Small Town Girl

(Tracy Elliott)
September 15, 2002
I grew up in Evergreen, Alabama, a very small town. Here's a little glimpse into my life experiences there.
Small Town Girl

They said I was born a Daddy's boy
Dreaming of playing ball and being a rock and roll star
But they never knew I was a Mama's girl
Painting nails and doing hair was a part of me

But my is America
I'm just a small town girl
Being raised by a country boy
In a small town world
Where we meet in the wheat fields
And we party all night
I'm no different than the prom queen
I'm just a small town girl

They said I could never learn to fly
But I spread my wings and kept my head held high
And they never knew about my dreams
But I believed in destiny

Cause my name is America
I'm just a small town girl
Being raised by a country boy
In a small town world
Where we meet in the wheat fields
And we party all night
I'm no different than the prom queen
I'm just a small town girl

They said I didn't believe in God
Said I was strange and torn apart
If they could only see
That I raise my hands to pray
Hoping someone would see
That I'm down on my knees
